Kampala, Uganda – The Rotary Club of Acacia Sunset Uganda, in a significant collaborative effort with the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), has launched a crucial family health camp in Mulimira Zone, Bukoto, Nakawa division. This initiative is a cornerstone of their ongoing community drive aimed at extending vital health services to the city’s most underprivileged populations.

A primary focus of this impactful program has been the implementation of cervical cancer immunization for young girls, addressing a critical health challenge within the community. Ms. Elizabeth Nekesa, the esteemed president of the Rotary Club of Acacia Sunset, articulated the core objectives of the camp, stating that its mission is to enhance and broaden access to both affordable and free healthcare services. A key component of this endeavor, she emphasized, is supporting cervical cancer immunizations specifically among the urban poor.

Ms. Nekesa highlighted the profound reason behind the club’s decision to prioritize cancer-related activities: “Cancer is a silent killer.” By focusing on the immunization of young girls, the club is directly contributing to the protection and preservation of lives, offering a proactive defense against this insidious disease.

Beyond the immunization efforts, the Rotary Club of Acacia Sunset has been actively involved in a wide array of community health promotion activities. Through these multifaceted initiatives, the club has successfully raised awareness among millions of individuals regarding the causes of various communicable diseases and, crucially, how to effectively prevent them. This holistic approach underscores the club’s commitment to improving public health and well-being across Kampala.
